Nero the Mastiff and Digby the Chihuahua have become the best of friends despite the size difference

The tiny rescue dog weighed less than 1lb when he was found at five weeks old, close to death and dumped between two rubbish bins.

But he’s become pals with nine-stone Nero who was an astonishing 120 times per cent heavier than him.

Pair cosy up at RSPCA centre in Southridge, Herts.

Nero watches over Digby.

The pals enjoy playtime.

Digby is now recovering well from his ordeal.

Nero eats more than 3lbs of dog meat a day while dainty Digby only manages to eat a 5oz sachet over the course of four meals.

More than 200 people have called the centre asking to take Digby home but only one person wanted to house Nero when he was rescued.
