Every week, the Globe brings you our Dog of the Week, in association with the Dogs Trust Merseyside. This week is firecracker Hulk.

Name: Hulk

Breed: Chihuahua

Age: 5

Hulk may be small but he has a huge personality – he knows what he likes and he likes what he knows!

One thing he isn’t particularly keen on is meeting new people, so he can be quite nervous around strangers.

That’s why the team are looking for patient owners for him who will give him time to settle and not expect too much of him at first.

He will need a home without children or other pets so he can be the centre of attention, which is definitely something he likes to be!

Georgina Lowery, Manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, says: “Hulk has had quite an unsettled life and he will really benefit from a calm home where he can settle into a routine.

“His new owners will need to meet this little chap a few times at the rehoming centre so he can build trust with them before he heads home.

“They will also need to continue with his training, with the support of our team, so that he will grow in confidence when it comes to meeting new people.”

If you think you could be the forever family Hulk is looking for, please call 0151 3181339 or go to www.dogstrust.org.uk

The rehoming centres are not open for public browsing but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog in.

New processes have been set up, which include social distancing measures to help keep staff and visitors safe.

Dogs Trust estimates that up to 40,000 more dogs could be at risk of abandonment in the fallout of the coronavirus crisis.

If you would like to help change the course of events and help the trust to continue to be there for more dogs and their owners when they need it, please give what you can by visiting www.dogstrust.org.uk/changethetale
