It takes a miracle to bring new life into this world. Especially when the deck is stacked against the expectant mother. This is Xena’s story – and as such, it beings as this daring Chihuahua gives birth after being hit by a car while in labor.
As if a Chihuahua in labor isn’t hard enough, Xena also had to have an emergency dog C-section. That’s because her baby was too large for a natural birth. But, here’s how it all unfolded for Xena the Chihuahua mix.

This stray little Chihuahua mix is living proof of how difficult it can be to become a mom. Fuzz Ball Animal Rescue shared his heartfelt story.
A speeding car collided with the helpless chihuahua in the middle of the street. The left hind leg was permanently injured. She was pregnant at the time of the collision.
Her future child was too large for the injured little dog to give birth naturally, and she went into shock. Fortunately, she takes to the animal rescue organization Fuzz Ball Animal Rescue.

What Happened After the Birth?
On Wednesday, the rescue shared the happy ending to this harrowing tale. The Chihuahua mom survived her operations, as did her healthy baby boy.
“It is so wonderful to see that both are doing amazing! This is one heck of a miracle. This mama is a warrior, and so is her baby,” the rescue posted on Facebook. “To have survived being on the streets, run over, in labor with a Chihuahua puppy that was too big to come out, and then a c-section and leg amputation while in shock!
They are little miracles!” After four months, Xenia found her home! Her journey has been incredible, and she has proven to be a fierce fighter. We wish this incredible warrior dog and her new family all the happiness in the world.
