A dog walker in New Jersey came to the rescue of a Chihuahua abandoned in layers of bags. A local shelter has revealed. A local dog walker discovers Coco during a walk. The dog was moving around, creating noise in fastened bags on the ground along railway tracks in Vineland, New Jersey. According to the shelter, the man's dog reacted to the moving bag, raising the alarm bell.
"We are sick because of a blatant animal cruelty that occurred to a sweet and innocent little Chihuahua." Wrote her ter in a social media post.
The dog walker brought the bag as it found it to the shelter. He opened each layer individually and made a shocking discovery.
"Inside was a young female Chihuahua, and it soaked her and the bags she was in with urine," they wrote.
"Coco was visibly shaken and lucky to be alive."
A video posted by the shelter showed Coco inside three separate bags inside one. They required sci sors to undo and rescue the tiny dog. "The footage showed a green suitcase with straps tied together.
As the final zipper opened, Coco hopped straight out and began running around, appearing somewhat disoriented.
South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter has reported the "horrific act of cruelty" to the Vineland Police Department and is asking anyone with information regarding Coco or who may be responsible to contact the police at 856-691-4111.
Coco is not currently available for adoption, although plenty of offers have flooded in on social media, but is "resting comfortably in a foster home."
Despite the tragic circumstances, this isn't the first time a shelter has recently been left seeking information after discovering a dog abandoned in a bag.
