  • Chihuahuas Playing Pool

    Chihuahuas Playing Pool

A man walks into a pool hall with his dog … no, this isn’t the beginning of a joke. It’s a showcase for a dog with the unique ability to play the game of pool. Meet Halo, who learned to play pool from her owner Josh Kuhn. The Chihuahuas playing pool are just fantastic.

After Kuhn installed a new pool table in the basement of his Minnesota home, he found Halo to be a regular observer. A curious participant as Halo would stand up on her back legs, lean her paws onto the table, bark at the balls, and run around, eyeing and following the action. Soon, Josh seized upon her curiosity and taught Halo how to play the game by using her paws as a doggie cue.

    The Fantastic Game Strategies

There’s a long tradition of perfecting trick pool shots. But rarely has a dog been recorded playing pool with such accuracy. The shots are likely set up by her human, but Halo takes aim and pushes the ball with great form—straight shots, bank shots, cushion shots. She possesses a fantastic repertoire with unbelievable technical expertise.

She also makes difficult rebound shots, a desirable skill that many humans can’t do. You’ve heard of hand-eye coordination? Halo possesses impressive paw-eye coordination!

We love how she tilts her head and takes aim before pushing the cue ball with controlled force. Just think of the hustles you could pull off teaming up with such a remarkable (and charming) pool-playing dog!

And as a fan of the game might note, Halo, the pool-playing dog, doesn’t “dog the nine,” she clears the table with “clear shots,” is really “liking it” and is definitely “tournament tough.”

Since we are on the pool subject, we want to show you another dog having a blast on the felt—see Amadeus the Chihuahua clear the table. Turn up the volume and listen, he’s enjoying himself!

  • Indoor Games to Play with your Chihuahua

Indoor Games to Play with your Chihuahua

There are many times when it’s hard for our dogs to get outside for some fun time and exercise. It may be too hot, too cold, raining, or snowing. If it goes on for more than a day or two, my dogs tend to go stir-crazy. So, I’ve thought of some great indoor games to play with your Chihuahua.

I’m home most of the day with my dogs Kilo, Buddy, and Roxy and the need to develop indoor games came up in order to prevent them from getting too bored when they have been inside too long.

Here’s a cute video of a baby and a Chihuahua with bubbles. Watch how the Chi reacts to the bubbles:

Below are different types of indoor games you can play with your dog.

    Find the Treat Game

This is one of the easiest games out there for dog owners. You can’t go wrong when it comes to food and sniffing. All you need to do to start the game is to show your dog a tiny treat or piece of kibble, and you are set. Toss the food around the room. Remember, when playing this game, aim low so you aren’t hitting something that can be knocked down.

If your dog does not notice the food at first, you can start by dropping the treat beside them. During the game, you can continue increasing the distance by tossing it further. You will be able to feed your dog entirely by just playing this game. You can make the game challenging by asking your Chi to stay and then hide the piece of dry food.

    Play Hide and Seek

As a child, you may have played this game. It’s a fun indoor game with your kids,  so why not with your pet? In this game, you may require two players and a dog. One player will go and hide while the other holds the dog. Once the first player is hidden, the other player can release the dog.
When the other player is found, one can make a big fuss about being found.

    The Three Cup Game

This game has played by many people around the world and the end game is to con the player. When you play with your dog, the end game is to provide entertainment as well as eliminate boredom for your pet.

All you need is three cups and a small ball. Place the three cups upside down on the floor, take the ball, show your pet, hide it under one cup. Using your hands, pass the cups around in order to mix the arrangement.

Once you are sure the dog will not find it, you can request the pet to point the cup where the ball is. If they point correctly, you give them a treat.

Give Your Dog Some Puzzle Toys

You can give your dog a puzzle toy to play with if you need some time to do a chore.

Teach Your Dog a New Trick

Teach your dog a new trick or command that they don’t know. Or brush up on some old tricks. If you don’t practice them fairly often, your dog may forget how to do them. We found this out with the roll overtrick.

My son and I taught the dogs how to roll over a few years back but didn’t keep up with it. I tried to get them to do it the other day and they just stared at me like I was nuts.

    Blow Bubbles

Some dogs love playing with bubbles so blow some for them and watch the fun!

Now that you have some ideas for indoor games you can play with your Chihuahua, you need to know the benefits of indoor games for your pets.

    • It helps your dog to exercise. When you play hide and seek, the dog will have to run from one point to another following your scent. This will ensure the limbs get the exercise they need especially during a rainy or snowy day.
    • It helps to improve their tracking skills. While your Chihuahua cannot go hunting, playing the find the treat game will help to improve their tracking skills. This is the same for the hide and seeks game.
    • It offers great entertainment for your dog. When you cannot take your dog out, they do get bored. When you engage them in an indoor game, they get to be entertained. It’s great stimulation for their minds and bodies.
    • It strengthens the bond between the two of you. Your dog loves to spend time with you and doing things together is the highlight of their day.
    • It acts as a great stress reliever for both of you.

  • Fast Tortoise Chases Chihuahua on Camera

Fast Tortoise Chases Chihuahua on Camera

Tortoises are not known for their speed. So when this fast tortoise charged toward a chihuahua, the dog fled in fright.

Alison Eite, 27, from Chester, was dog-sitting Chilli the chihuahua when her tortoise Tuk set off in pursuit of the pooch.

In her footage, Tuk can be seen running towards Chilli, who backs away as the tortoise gets close.

Tuk the Tortoise and Chilli the Chihuahua

Chilli lets the tortoise get close and bends down to sniff him before running away again.

In a Facebook post featuring the video, Eite wrote: ‘Of all the dogs Tuk has met, little Chilli definitely put up the most resistance and chased right back.’

Ms Eite said: ‘My dog Eddie, who passed in November, was very submissive to Tuk. And they got along great, other than eating each other’s treats whenever they could.

In the footage, Tuk can be seen running towards Chilli, who backs away as the tortoise gets close

I’m wondering if Tuk feels as though these new dogs are invading Eddie’s space.’

Ms. Eite added: ‘Tuk is friendly and loving and recognizes people he loves instantly.

‘He holds a grudge if I put him away when he wants to be out. And, he is always grumpy with me when he wakes from hibernation.’

Last month, Ms. Eite said Tuk ‘took an instant dislike’ to a little cavapoo called Milo she was dog-sitting for the week.

She said: ‘Although I’ve seen Tuk move quickly before, I’ve never seen him run as quickly as this.’

The tortoise was acquired at a street market in Morocco 20 years ago and taken back to England, Ms. Eite added.

Chilli even runs inside to get away from the tortoise. Tuk’s owner Alison Eite said that Chilli is the dog who has put up the most resistance out of all the dogs Tuk has met

  • This Dancing Chihuahua Needs a Flamenco Partner

A Spanish dancing chihuahua called ‘El Willy’ has been amusing viewers with his dazzling and super cute Flamenco dancing skills.

It’s hard to pick faults with the little pooch who seems like he was born to dance the Flamenco. But we reckon the tiny dancer needs a partner as he looks a little lonely. Although, it would probably be a real challenge to find someone up to this special chihuahua’s level of dancing, which doesn’t seem to compare.

Sure, there have many examples on the web of pet chihuahuas dancing on two legs around their owners’ living rooms. But nothing can come close to El Willy, which translates as ‘The William’, in terms of the rhythm, moves, and perfect timing. This dancing Chihuahua sure knows what he’s doing, and we can’t get enough of him!

In the video we see El Wily dancing to a Flamenco song and moving his hips and feet in an impressive fashion. The adorable pup keeps going out and about on the dance floor, without ever missing a beat.

Will El Wily find a dance partner? We hope so, but even if he doesn’t we’re sure he’ll carry on attracting many admirers…

  • Lazy Chihuahua Caught Relaxing on Duty

Lazy Chihuahua Caught Relaxing on Duty

Whenever a sign appears on a fence or a piece of property that reads, “Beware of the dog,” people should take notice and heed the warning. But did you think that inside, there could be a lazy chihuahua relaxing? After all, it’s not easy being a tiny, adorable pup. They need all the rest they can get.

    Source: Woof Woof/Facebook

Recently, however, someone decided to peek over the fence surrounding a home. On that fence, the sign clearly stated, “Beware of the dog.” Anyone in their right mind would know better than to come close, but not this brave explorer.

Lo and behold with cameras rolling, there was no barking or guard dog in sight. There was, however, a tiny Chihuahua relaxing on a beach chair!

    The Lazy Chihuahua

The Chihuahua could care less about anyone walking on his property. He is too busy taking a rest, chilling out, and enjoying the moment.

The only thing missing from this video is someone holding a cool glass of water for the dog. Or, a cold bottle of pup-friendly beer to get those juices flowing.

We think the sign should be changed to, “Beware, dog relaxing so be quiet!”

  • How to Stop Chihuahua Humping

    How to Stop Chihuahua Humping

Humping might seem funny at first. But laughing about it or encouraging the behavior can result in disaster. Stopping Chihuahua humping early on will help your Chihuahua become better adjusted and better suited to deal with stress and difficult situations. So, this is how to stop Chihuahua humping.

    How to Stop Chihuahua Humping

While you might think of humping as a sexual act, most humping is connected with dominant behavior, seen most commonly seen in males but also in females. Chihuahuas may also hump other dogs or even humans as a sign of stress when overexcited or simply because they lack proper socializing.

For example, the bossy bulldog who is humping his owner’s leg might be trying to demonstrate his dominance over him. In contrast, the tiny chihuahua humping the visitors might be overly excited and not know how else to let that show.

    Dominance and Pack Order

Chihuahuas who are insecure will try mounting another dog or a person when they feel they need to secure their dominant position or establish control over somebody. They might also hump as a way to challenge for a position or to request attention.

Humping human legs is often a way for Chihuahuas to attract attention, especially if they are being ignored by their owners or feel a challenged because of the presence of a visitor or another pet.

One way to deal with this is to teach your Chihuahua the “leave it” command as soon as the behavior starts. You can also tell visitors in advance to use a firm “no!” if the Chihuahua starts the behavior in their presence. This would reaffirm that humping is unacceptable and drive the message that it must stop.

    Medical Solutions

Neutering can effectively stop humping behavior, especially when done before the Chihuahua is six months old. The results are less effective in more senior Chihuahuas who have made humping a habit.

While hormones play a part in humping and the need to dominate, humping is also a learned behavior, so surgery alone might not be enough to stop it. In adult Chihuahuas, you can start a retraining program after surgery, when hormones begin to calm down, and your Chihuahua might be more responsive to training.

One way to train your Chihuahua is to use a spritz water bottle and squirt a bit of water on him when he starts humping.

    Training and Socializing

The best way to stop humping behavior is to take action as soon as possible, so it doesn’t become a habit. For example, you can try distracting a puppy or a Chihuahua by offering a toy or a game. By reinforcing a healthier behavior instead, your Chihuahua will learn that a different reaction is more appropriate and provides better rewards. Hyperactive pets might hump to help relieve energy, so take them for longer walks or enroll them in obedience training to help them focus on something else.

College Student Replaces Pictures of Family with Chihuahua

The internet is LOL-ing with this college student who replaces pictures of her family with those of her pup, and for a good reason. The new results are hilarious, and we invite you to see them below.

How Marissa replaces pictures of Family with Dixie’s

The college student told BuzzFeed News that she began replacing family photos in her mom’s house with pics of the Chihuahua last summer. “Dixie’s always been really photogenic,” she said.

    Marissa Hooper

Marissa’s mom, Kathryn, told BuzzFeed News that the first time a photo was replaced, it took her a few weeks to notice. “It was kind of embarrassing,” she said. She discovered the Dixie photo swaps when a friend was over.

This past weekend, the college student pranked again, replacing her high school graduation photo.

    So noble.

This time it didn’t take her mom too long to notice. “I think when I leave, she surveys,” Marissa said. Kathryn has had enough.

“I don’t want people thinking that’s what I do in my spare time,” said the nonplussed mom. Unlike Kathryn, everyone else is totally about the ongoing effort.

Marissa has no plans of stopping her steady replacement of family pics around the house, even though her mom has been vigilant.
