Chihuahuas Left With No Food or Water During Owners’ Holiday

A dog rescue charity in Rotherham took in two cute Chihuahuas, Toby and Chloe after the sibling’s crying was discovered by the police. The Chihuahuas left with no food or water were abandoned by their owners, who supposedly went on holiday.

Helping Yorkshire Poundies said when the owners of the dogs returned from their holiday they did not want their pets back. In a Facebook post to introduce its followers to the dogs, the charity started speaking on their behalf:

You won’t believe what we’ve been through. We were rescued by the police after we were left to fend for ourselves in the house when my owners went on holiday and didn’t want us back. We couldn’t believe it…our little legs couldn’t find food or water for ourselves – it was horrible being alone and hungry.

When Toby and Chloe were found, they were in a dire state. The Chihuahuas were abandoned by their owners, without a morsel of food or a drop of water to sustain them while their uncaring owners took off for a holiday.

The poor critters were left alone for what seemed to be an eternity, but the rescuers estimated a period of two weeks. This was the duration of their owners’ holiday. During this time, they were without any supply of food or clean water.

Toby and Chloe were severely emaciated when they were found. Their ribs were visible beneath their thinning fur, and they showed signs of dehydration and stomach ache. Their overall health was significantly deteriorated due to malnutrition.

The abandonment also left them in a severe state of emotional distress. They were visibly frightened and anxious and showed symptoms of separation anxiety. The once lively and joyful duo now showed signs of severe stress and trauma.

Just imagine the nightmare they must have lived through. They were left behind in an empty home, deprived of necessities, and worst of all, the love and companionship they were used to. 

Rehabilitation for the Chihuahuas Left Alone

Toby and Chloe, despite their ordeal, showed remarkable resilience. They were immediately put under the care of veterinarians and therapists who worked tirelessly to nurse them back to health and help them overcome their trauma.
